Meet Owner and Physical Therapist Thomas G. Mulvey, MS, PT, MBA

Thomas G. Mulvey is the founder and owner of Athletex Physical Therapy, serving patients at both the Orland Park and Oak Lawn clinics. A native of Chicago’s South Side, Thomas graduated from Hubbard High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University, and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy and Exercise Physiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He later earned an MBA in Healthcare Finance from St. Xavier University to combine his clinical expertise with business leadership.

With 39 years of experience in physical therapy and over three decades at Athletex, Thomas has dedicated his career to orthopedic physical therapy and preventative injury training. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Orthopedic and Private Practice Sections and the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, reflecting his commitment to professional development and advancing the field of physical therapy.

Thomas’s passion for physical therapy began during high school and early college, spending countless hours observing patient care and discovering the impact of hands-on treatment. He believes physical therapy is inherently a “hands-on” healthcare specialty, where evaluating and feeling the area of injury provides insights that diagnostic tests alone cannot. His approach empowers patients, helping them feel understood, involved, and confident in their recovery.

Throughout his career, Thomas has emphasized individualized, patient-centered care, balancing clinical expertise with empathy and compassion. At Athletex, he continues to champion a hands-on, comprehensive approach, ensuring that every patient receives personalized evaluation, treatment, and guidance to restore function, prevent injury, and maintain long-term wellness.

Her passion for physical therapy began in high school while working as an aide at Athletex. Combined with her background in competitive soccer, basketball, and Irish dance, she developed a strong interest in how injuries occur—and how to prevent and rehabilitate them effectively.

Siobhan takes a whole-person, hands on, and movement-focused approach to care. She prioritizes identifying the root cause of pain, improving functional mobility, and empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery. She is committed to helping every patient return to the activities they love with confidence and long-term wellness.

Themi specializes in baseball throwing and hitting mechanics as well as track and field sprinting mechanics, combining decades of expertise with a strong understanding of movement efficiency and sports performance. His interest in physical therapy began when a friend’s mother introduced him to the field—an introduction that sparked a lifelong passion for helping people recover, move better, and return to the activities they love.

Known for his hands-on, empathetic approach, Themi focuses on guiding patients through every step of their rehabilitation. His philosophy is simple and powerful: help each patient become “one degree better and one ounce stronger” every session. His approach combines evidence-based techniques with a personalized, patient-centered philosophy.

Christopher’s passion for physical therapy began from his own experiences as a high school athlete undergoing rehabilitation. These experiences gave him a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges patients face during recovery. He focuses on treating the whole person, not just individual symptoms, and is committed to helping patients regain functional movement, achieve their goals, and maintain long-term wellness.
